Recently Bufalo et al., in an extensive study investigating CYP1A1 (m1 and m2) role in thyroid tumorigenesis and its connection with GSTM1, GSTT1, GSTP1, GSTO1, and codon 72 of p53 genotypes, demonstrated an inverse association between germline CYP1A1 inheritance and smoking with the risk of thyroid nodules and papillary carcinomas [58]. This evidence concerns the gene CYP1A1 and thyroid gland papillary carcinoma.
