Type 1 diabetic patients with diabetic nephropathy had a higher frequency of the RAGE -374 A allele (31.2%) compared to those who maintained normoalbuminuria ≥10 years (28.4%) (P = 0.007) (Table 4) and the difference remained even after correction for multiple comparisons (p = 0.02).
