Recently we identified that α3(IV)NC1 inhibits hypoxia induced cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression in endothelial cells via FAK/Akt/NFκB (nuclear transcription factor-kappa B) pathways, leading to decreased tumor angiogenesis and tumor growth in an α3β1 integrin dependent manner (66). The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is neoplasm.
