CRP was associated with an increased risk of future cardiovascular events even after adjustment for cardiovascular risk factors, i.e. age, sex, current smoking, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and BMI, where those with CRP levels above 3 mg/L had an HR of 1.6 (95% confidence interval, CI: 1.1–2.4) compared to those with CRP levels below 1 mg/L. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and hypertensive disorder.
