TNC and asthma: Since a failure in the injury-repair cycle of the inflamed bronchial epithelium seems to play a major role in the remodeling via development of abnormally activated epithelial-mesenchymal interactions [3,11,23,24], a study was undertaken on human bronchial epithelial cells to investigate whether CysLTs have a direct effect on the synthesis of Tn and Ln β2 chain, proteins thought both to reflect the activity of the ongoing inflammatory remodeling and to affect airway compliance in asthma.
