The downregulation of the genes of the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway including the HMG-CoA Reductase might be of special interest, because HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitors (Statins) are assumed to ameliorate the MS disease by modulating e.g. the activity of T cells and of microglial cells or by enhancing the survival of oligodendroglial progenitor cells [57]. The gene discussed is HMGCR; the disease is myeloid sarcoma.
