CDH1 and breast cancer: In prostate and breast cancer cells, matrilysin (MMP-7) and stromelysin (MMP-3) have been shown to generate a soluble 80-kDa fragment [29], [37], and ADAM-10, a transmembrane protease, controls constitutive and regulated shedding of E-cadherin in cell cultures of keratinocytes and in vivo in mouse embryos [30].
