It is interesting to note that Insulin and mTOR signalling pathways are known to be involved in AML [20,21], in particular the crucial genes (PIK3CA, PIK3CB, PIK3R2 and AKT1, Fig 6) in the intersection between these two pathways have been recently pointed out as promising novel targets for AML therapy [22]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
