Twelve (LPA, CBS, APOC3, F7, APOB, SCNN1A, APOA4, SELE, ITGA2, GNB3, CETP, ADRB2) of the genes that we report here to be associated with susceptibility for a disturbed glucose metabolism and/or T2DM alone (when FDR = 0.125), actually reside on chromosomal regions that have previously been implicated in T2DM or related traits or have directly or indirectly been implicated in "diabetes associated" traits (for more detailed information see Tables 7 and 8). The gene discussed is SELE; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
