Stabilisation of β-catenin in cultured cells using lithium chloride induced NKD1 (Wnt/PCP pathway) expression but had no effect on FZD3 (Wnt/Ca2+ pathway) levels, while Wnt3a conditioned medium caused induction of both targets, indicating that β-catenin is responsible for some but not all of the changes seen in adenomas. The gene discussed is FZD3; the disease is adenoma.
