CRP and myocardial infarction: This observation is in keeping with thedata by Biasucci et al. [9] who had shown return of MPO to baseline levelsin all patients, including those with myocardial infarction, within one week. This point is important, as suggests a peculiar characteristic of MPO, atvariance from other inflammatory markers commonly used (as CRP, fibrinogen) andfrom other proposed inflammatory markers that remain elevated for relativelylong time or have an extremely short and unreliable half-life (such asinterleukins).
