Targeted therapy of growth factor receptors has been shown clinically effective in other cancer types such as chronic myelogenous leukaemia, gastrointestinal stromal tumours, HER-2/NEU overexpressing breast cancer, colorectal cancer and non-small cell lung cancer (Verweij et al, 2004; Krause and Van Etten, 2005; Gold and Dematteo, 2006; Motzer et al, 2007; Smith et al, 2007). This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and colorectal cancer.
