In considering potential pharmacopeia fornoise-induced tinnitus, the first synapse of the auditory pathways (the synapsebetween inner hair cells and primary auditory neurons) is an appealing target.Indeed, in this study, when locally applied during the first 4 days followingthe noise overexposure, the NR2B-containing NMDA receptor antagonist ifenprodilwas able to completely abate long-term noise-induced tinnitus. This evidence concerns the gene GRIN2B and Tinnitus.
