Our findings coupled with previous reports that IL-6 was well tolerated in volunteers in doses up to 30 μg/kg/day for 7 days [36] suggest that a single intravenous bolus of IL-6 administered at the start of resuscitation of hypotensive trauma patients deserves further study to assess whether or not it prevents HCC and reduces mortality. Here, IL6 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
