The fairly late transcription of LMP1, compared to other EBV latent antigens, during the establishment of EBV latency could also explain why IFN-γ can restrict B cell transformation by EBV during the first days of primary EBV infection, while others and we found that IFN-γ was not able to inhibit proliferation of fully EBV-transformed lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs) ([55] and data not shown). The gene discussed is PDLIM7; the disease is Epstein-Barr virus infection.
