The area under the ROC curve (AUC) to predict adrenal insufficiency revealed an AUC for basal cortisol of 0.91 (95%CI 0.85–0.99), which was better than for ACTH (0.63 (95%CI 0.48–0.79)), the ACTH/cortisol ratio (0.79 (95%CI 0.67–0.91)), the clinical symptoms score (0.51 (95%CI 0.34–0.68)) and the visual analogue scale (0.45 (95%CI 0.23–0.66)). This evidence concerns the gene POMC and Adrenal insufficiency.
