In conclusion, we report that VWF and ADAMTS-13 levels were not associated in this case–control study of MI; that ADAMTS-13 levels were associated with blood lipid levels (cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol) and obesity (BMI); that VWF and ADAMTS-13 levels showed respectively positive and negative associations with risk of MI; and that the latter association was apparent only after adjustment for CHD risk factors, in particular HDL-cholesterol. This evidence concerns the gene VWF and myocardial infarction.
