Because C. trachomatis Hsp60 is considered an important immunogen in the inflammatory process of chronic infection and has been associated with scarring disease among infected individuals with trachoma [49,50,52,53] and in the monkey model of trachoma [54–56], we were interested in determining the antibody response in tears and sera from our participants who were infected with different Chlamydiaceae species and ompA genotypes. This evidence concerns the gene HSPD1 and inclusion conjunctivitis.
