Furthermore, there was a significant association of tear and serum immunoreactivity to the three combined recombinant Chlamydiaceae Hsp60 (OR 6.2 [95% CI 4.4–12.6], p < 0.001; and OR 3.1 [95% CI 2.1–11], p = 0.019, respectively) for individuals with any infection with severe inflammation compared to no trachoma, but not for tear and serum immunoreactivity to individual recombinant Chlamydiaceae species-specific Hsp60. This evidence concerns the gene HSPD1 and infection.
