We used the Cox proportional hazard model to evaluate the significance of the factors we have selected (age, stage of the disease, blood Hb level before treatment, size of cervix and lymph nodes evaluated by CT, irradiation dose and radiotherapy duration) influencing the overall survival, disease-free survival, local control and distant-metastases-free survival of cervical cancer patients (univariate analysis, Table 1 and 2); we have also used this method to assess how the prognostic significance of these factors depends on the other factors analyzed (multivariate analysis, Table 3 and 4). The gene discussed is GSTM1; the disease is cervical carcinoma.
