Thus, the purpose of this present study is to examine these two genetic polymorphisms: 1) the APOC3 -455T>C promoter polymorphism and 2) the rs7566605 SNP, located upstream of INSIG2, as potential genetic candidates for MetS, defined by both the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III (NCEP ATP III) and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) criteria, in a sample of multiple geographic ancestries. The gene discussed is INSIG2; the disease is metabolic syndrome.
