In a previous study that included 15 white patients, Mondino et al. (1982) found that HLA-B*44 was associated with the risk of Stevens-Johnson syndrome with ocular involvement; therefore, it is possible that the weak association of HLA-B*44 with hypersensitivity dermatitis in TCE-exposed workers is not a chance finding. The gene discussed is HLA-B; the disease is Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
