After we excluded the possible causality of Cdh23 [18] for the QTL (see Text S1), we focused on the gene for brain-type fatty acid binding protein, Fabp7 (also called B-FABP, BLBP) as a candidate in this QTL for the following reasons: (1) Disturbed metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), particularly n-3 PUFA docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), has been suggested in schizophrenia [19,20,21]. This evidence concerns the gene FABP7 and schizophrenia.
