p-cadherin is a glycoprotein that, in breast ducts and ductal-terminal units, is only expressed by myoepithelial and basal cells.15,16 Some studies have shown an association between p-cadherin expression in breast carcinomas and a myoepithelial embryonic and stem-cell-like phenotype.17-19. This evidence concerns the gene CDH3 and breast carcinoma.
