Cardiovascular disease was the most common type of comorbidity (n = 245; 66.4%), and male participants most commonly used concomitant medications related to treatment of this condition: 147 (39.8%) lipid-modifying agents, 139 (37.7%) anti-thrombotic agents and 131 (35.5%) agents that act on the renin–angiotensin system. This evidence concerns the gene REN and cardiovascular disorder.
