An increased level of β1–6 branching on β1 integrin, a 130 kDa subunit of fibronectin receptor, by GnT-V resulted in the inhibition of cisplatin-induced apoptosis, or inhibition of clustering of α5β1 integrin and promotion of cell migration in neck squamous cell carcinoma and fibrosarcoma (Guo et al, 2002; Nakahara et al, 2003). The gene discussed is MGAT5; the disease is fibrosarcoma.
