TRPV1 and neuropathy: To our knowledge, only one study has demonstrated increased TRPV1 immunoreactivity in a patient with painful neuropathy (postherpetic neuralgia).22 It is interesting to note that although the authors report a somewhat patchy increase of IENF with increased TRPV1, the immunofluorescence also seems clearly to show increased keratinocyte expression in the skin afflicted with neuropathy.
