SOD1 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: Consistent with this idea, eosinophilic hyaline inclusions (∼10 to 20 μm in diameter) with a pale core, which are similar to neuronal LBHI/Ast-HI in the spinal cord of ALS patients harboring a SOD1 mutation, developed within 24 hrs of exposure to tunicamycin (Fig. 5A), but not in cells expressing wild type SOD1 (data not shown).
