Chromosome 10 harbors the oncogene FGFR2 (10q26) and tumour suppressor genes PTEN/MMAC1 (10q23) and DMBT1 (10q25-q26), both involved in carcinogenesis, which could explain the observation of both gains and losses of chromosomes 10 in gastric carcinomas [34-36]. The gene discussed is FGFR2; the disease is gastric carcinoma.
