It is the only KSHV gene that when expressed in the vascular endothelium of mice is able to produce vascular tumors [30] and transgenic mice that express vGPCR under either a ubiquitous (SV40) promoter or a T cell-specific (CD2) promoter also develop dermal angioproliferative lesions that closely resemble those seen in KS [31,32]. This evidence concerns the gene CD2 and vascular neoplasm.
