The KCNJ9 SNP (rs2494211) has been previously associated with type 2 diabetes in Pima Indians [21], and the T allele of the KCNJ10 SNP (rs1130183) showed a significant association with seizure resistance in the common forms of focal and generalized epilepsy patients, suggesting that this variation is related to general seizure susceptibility in humans [22]. Here, KCNJ9 is linked to idiopathic generalized epilepsy.
