With the known interactions between versican G3 and β1 integrin in other cancer cell types and the increasing knowledge of several β3 integrin-expressing cell populations including osteolasts in breast cancer tumor progression, the known interaction between versican G3 and integrin receptors such as αVβ3 in bone may increase our understanding towards tumor mediated chemotactic and haptotactic migration towards bone factors [25,46]. This evidence concerns the gene VCAN and breast cancer.
