More recent data showing that wild-type WT1 is expressed in the majority of Wilms' tumors, and that the wild-type form is expressed in a variety of cancers including breast cancer, renal cell cancer, ovarian cancer, mesothelioma cancer, lung cancer, melanoma and acute leukemia, however, have implicated WT1 as an oncogene in those tumors [4-9]. The gene discussed is WT1; the disease is renal cell adenocarcinoma.
