Increasing evidence for an involvement of NF-κB in pancreatic cancer has accumulated in the last several years (Algül et al, 2002; Sclabas et al, 2003), which is not surprising given the fact that inflammatory mechanisms contribute to the genesis of this disease (Farrow and Evers, 2002). The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
