In the case of SARS, our previous study confirmed that SARS coronavirus induces upregulation of a number of inflammatoemokines, i.e. Regulated upon Activation, Normal T cell-Expressed and Secreted (RANTES), interferon-gamma inducible protein 10 (IP-10) and Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 (MCP-1) [10]. The gene discussed is CXCL10; the disease is severe acute respiratory syndrome.
