Our findings are consistent with studies that reported calcium receptor (CaR) stimulation induced EGFR-MAPK signalling in transfected human embryonic kidney cells, human prostate cancer cells and hypercalcaemia-inducing rat Leydig cells (H-500) (MacLeod et al, 2003; Yano et al, 2004; Tfelt-Hansen et al, 2005b). The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
