IGF1 and acromegaly: Acromegaly is a chronic disease due to a hypersecretion of GH and IGF-1, associated with an increase in mortality and morbidity, mainly through cardiovascular, metabolic and neoplasic complications.1 The increased morbidity and mortality is directly related to the control of the disease.2 The aim of treatment is to restore physiological secretion of GH and IGF-1 or at least limit the GH/IGF-1 secretion excess, in order to reduce morbidity or mortality.
