Activated Ras has been associated with enhanced proliferation, transformation, and cell survival through a series of effectors, including RASSF1A. However, because the RASSF1A gene is a tumor suppressor gene, it is likely that loss of RASSF1A expression by promoter methylation in NSCLC does not require Ras activation. The gene discussed is RASSF1; the disease is neoplasm.
