Although a comprehensive list of all genes implicated in somatic ovarian cancer is not available, a brief scan identified ten genes associated with mutations or mis-regulation in ovarian (and breast) cancer that have bidirectional promoters (BRCA1, FANCA, BARD1, FANCF, TP53, BRCA2, CHEK2, ERBB2, FANCB, and FANCD2;Table 1). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is breast carcinoma.
