SIGLEC1 and AIDS: A highly significant difference (p≤0.0005) in sialoadhesin mRNA levels was seen in AIDS patients (both AIDS-KS and non-AIDS-KS, median copy numbers per group ranged from 4.83×103–2.35×104/104 PBMC), and in HIV-1 infected a-symptomatic patients (median = 2.49×103 copies/104 PBMC) when compared with non-infected risk-group patients (median = 2.69×102 copies/104 PBMC) or with patients with exclusively an HHV-8 infection (median = 4.28×102 copies/104 PBMC).
