The history of telomerase as tumor antigen began with work in the laboratory of Lee Nadler and in our own laboratory [29,30] with the identification of 9 mer peptides of the human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTRT) that could serve as immunogens to activate CD8 T cell precursors and generate cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL). This evidence concerns the gene TERT and neoplasm.
