Some first-time mothers with PM and elevated sVEGFR were normotensive, and we speculate that the hypotensive effects of heavy parasite density may sometimes counteract the hypertensive effects of sVEGFR1, or, alternatively, that VEGF at high levels in some women may exceed the binding capacity of sVEGFR1 and prevent hypertension. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and Hypertension.
