The Ser326Cys polymorphism in human oxoguanine glycosylase 1 (hOGG1), which is involved in the repair of 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanine in oxidatively damaged DNA, has been associated with susceptibility to certain cancers, but has not been examined in causation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The gene discussed is OGG1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
