Given the considerable variability of the effect of resection on C-reactive protein, interleukin-6 and interleukin-10 seen in the present study it would require a much larger study to absolutely preclude the possibility that surgical resection of renal cancer does not reduce C-reactive protein, interleukin-6 and interleukin-10 concentrations. The gene discussed is IL10; the disease is renal carcinoma.
