SLC29A1 and familial pancreatic carcinoma: Similar results were obtained in a pharmacogenetic study on 83 pancreatic cancer patients where PCR analysis demonstrated that overall survival was significantly longer in patients with high hENT1 expression, with respect to patients with low hENT1 levels (median, 25.7, 95% CI, 17.6–33.7 vs 8.5, 95% CI, 7.0–9.9 month) and the multivariate analysis confirmed the prognostic significance of hENT1 (Giovannetti et al, 2006).
