From the study of white Caucasian NIDDM-afflicted women, however, Zhang et al. (1996) reported that the prevalence of the IRS-1 972 mutation was significantly higher for NIDDM-subject groups featuring insulin resistance and dyslipidaemia than was the case for normal subjects (18 and 26% compared with 11% for the control subjects) [32].
