Affections to extracellular matrix through overexpression of tenascin or discontinuity in collagen, fibronectin and laminin structure, in addition to the presence of MMPs, influence the behavior of neoplastic cells, acting over tumor growth, tissue adhesion, invasion and metastases, which represent the main factors indicative of prognosis and survival of patients with these carcinomas. This evidence concerns the gene LAMB2 and carcinoma.
