Interestingly, spermatocytic seminoma, which is regarded as a low-grade malignancy, showed increased expression of dysadherin and absent E-cadherin, while anaplastic tumours, that have more aggressive behaviour exhibited concomitant high expression of dysadherin and aberrant E-cadherin, similar to that observed in embryonal carcinomas. This evidence concerns the gene FXYD5 and embryonal carcinoma.
