Taken together, our results and those of Bhargava and coworkers indicate that EGFR amplification is statistically more prevalent in MBCs than in other types of breast carcinoma (10/174 nonmetaplastic breast carcinomas versus 8/26 metaplastic breast carcinomas showed EGFR amplification; P < 0.001 by Fisher's exact test (two sided)). The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is breast carcinoma.
