As aurora B kinase appears to have a critical role in ensuring the accurate segregation of chromosomes at mitosis through the destabilisation of syntelic (not under tension) attachments (Dewar et al, 2004) and as Ota et al (2002) had shown in a model system that forced expression the protein was linked to the generation of aneuploidy, we examined whether tumours with high levels of AURKB expression might show higher levels of genomic instability.
