Recently, Till and coworkers [27], using transfected HeLa cell populations and immortalized fibroblasts from tnfr1-/-/tnfr2-/- double knockout mice, reported an altered induction of apoptosis and nuclear factor-κB pathway in the TNFRII 196R allele transfected cells, which could also serve as an explanation for the association of this allele with increased susceptibility to RA. The gene discussed is TNFRSF1A; the disease is rheumatoid arthritis.
